Vyasaaya Vishnu Roopaaya Vyasa Roopaaya Vishnave |
Namo Vai Brahma Nidhaye Vaasishtaya Namo Namaha ||
Lord Vishnu has 24 incarnations (avatars), of which his 17th incarnation is Bhagavan Sri Veda Vyasa. Vyasa avatar is very prominent and distinct when compared to Lord Vishnu's other avatars. Vyasa avatar is truly eternal.
Only a Human being can live his life happily and peacefully by attaining Moksha (liberation) from sorrow.
Lord Vishnu incarnated himself as Bhagavan Sri Veda Vyasa to provide us the higher / transcendental knowledge and dharmas to be practiced to attain Moksha. Bhagavan Sri Veda Vyasa is a Chiranjeevi (eternal and immortal). He showers his blessings upon us to have the potential and competence that is needed, to practice the Dharmas. He divided the Vedas into four parts which were earlier like an ocean. He also gave us Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, 18 Puranas, Brahmasutras and the epic Mahabharata.
He is among us as a chiranjeevi to give us the inspiration and motivation to destroy our ignorance, which is the root cause of our sorrow and fear. Unlike other Avatars, Vyasa Avatar is eternal and has no end.
